Will political march bring back community spirit?

We've all seen it. We've all seen the images of the conflict currently happening in Gaza... It's just that some or most of us are good at switching off and not thinking about it. We turn the news of, onto a programme such as Emmerdale or Eastenders or we just choose to see what we want to see... In recent weeks I've been following snippets, with what is happening in Gaza and it is scary... Children and familes are being tortured and horrifically killed, due to what? It doesn't bare thinking about... I'm not a parent, however I have seen many photographs of children who have been killed due to this war. Children, no matter what religion, colour, age, gender ect do not deserve to be brutally murdered in this way... No one does!!
Instead of thinking about the next way to attack you'd think they'd be thinking about trying to come to some kind of haul and try and stop this awful conflict.

However I am not writing this post to try to explain something I don't even understand myself... I am witting to discuss what I saw today, which made me think a lot about community! I was in Kirkcaldy town center today with my friend, having a spot of lunch where, we saw people marching for Gaza, shouting the words "Viva Viva Palestina".  In this instance I did not know it was 700 people marching! I did not know why they were marching, with many of us thinking "Why are they marching here?" "What will that prove?".
I did however see many people shocked, and looking away while walking in the other direction going into shops and towards car parks. I escaped into a shop, its a instant thing...Especially when there is a huge crowd of people marching, with police escorts. I found it quite intimidating. Even as I write this blog post I feel really bad and horrified that I felt that way.

But if I felt that intimated with that going on, how must people of Gaza feel? They're world is turned upside down with no where to escape to... It makes you really think about how much we switch off and escape from what is happening on the other side of the world.

Those people who were marching today were proud to be Scottish! Those people today pulled together as a COMMUNITY. A word we don't hear very much anymore, a word that is quickly losing its meaning!   Despite the weather not being in everyone's favor today, NO ONE LEFT! They marched from Beveridge park to the town center, with a stop for a moments silence near Nicol St. I just can't believe it, that there is people standing up for what they believe in and I for one think its great! They sent a clear message of support to people in Palestine.

I also think it is interesting to learn local MP's have support for the people of Gaza, with showing "Small gestures" such as replacing the Saltire flag with the Palestine one for a week, at Fife House. Peter Locheart also has thought of other gestures such as removing all Israeli products from the canteen to be undertaken.

At least we, as a nation can pull together and help raise awareness to what is happening over there and hopefully put a stop to this nightmare for many!

Communication is the key!

Hey guys!

Haven't written for a while, with a lot going on in the last month. I've started writing another story which is all hush hush. When I start writing more, I may put teasers on like what I did with "True Love". I never did finish that though and I am very confident that I will be finishing this one. Determination is the key as they say!

However I'm not writing this blog to talk about me (makes a change eh?). I am writing this because over the years I have formed a great friendship with someone who has depression. For you who have listened to a few of my "Cally's Corner" radio shows you'll know who I'm speaking do fondly of. I won't mention his name but he will know who he is :)... I hope! Anyway... He writes poetry to express how he is feeling and through an article just accidentally stumbled across, I shared it with him as he also writes blogs on depression but I wanted to share this with you also.

I found an article which talks about taking a "Sabbatical from depression". Now for anyone who doesn't know what a sabbatical actually is, its a "rest or break from work". This article talks about taking a break from everything and just having, shelter, food and water. You know like every day basics. I won't go into it a lot as I'm going to link it for you to read yourself.

Unless you've had depression, you can't imagine what it's like. I know I struggle to imagine what it feels like. Any of us can say "I just feel depressed today". But for someone with depression its a every day thing. They feel like this every day and I guess it's just took for me to read some poetry to realize this earlier  tonight and it got me thinking. How can people express how they feel? I know a lot of people who are dealing with it that don't like to to talk about it with loved ones in case they upset them and often can they push the people who care away.

If you're feeling down or depressed, and don't know how to express how your feeling, scribble it down. You don't need to publish it or anything. Just by a pad or open word on your computer and start writing. I know when I've had a bad day or I'm stressed, writing helps me. Take up a hobby to keep your mind occupied. Turn your phone of, switch facebook and twitter off, press that dreaded shut down button on your PC and relax. Take a bath, watch a DVD.
I know it's hard to imagine switching your phone of or putting facebook out of sight... It scares me too don't worry, but even I manage it...Sometimes!

I'm no therapist, and I'm certainly not telling anyone what to do. I just want at least one person who reads this to take away what I've just learned... You need time for yourself once in a while to recharge the batteries, rest and concentrate on YOU!!!

The poetry I read was of my friends  which described the way he was feeling. It sent chills down my spine because I knew it was honest. You don't often get me speechless and this has left me not knowing what to say apart from this blog. I just want people to know your not the only one going through this. You have your family and your friends supporting you through this and they can help you deal with it better.

If you have any questions then don't hesitate to ask :)

Another blog will follow as I have promised myself I will keep my writing...

This blog is not meaning to cause harm or offence to anyone it is just expressing my views and what I have learned over the years on the topic through my friends. I hope one day there will be more awerness for mental health issues :)

Don't let anyone put you down!

Hello Gorgeous!

Teenagers have it hard in the world today  don't they? I mean they think that if their not skinny enough or if their hair isn't perfect, or if they haven't got the latest fashions they aren't perfect enough.

Your teens (so I've been told) is the best years of you life, but is it really? Your going through changes and just figuring out who you are.

People think they are or aren't perfect, and before you can see anything imperfections in yourself people already pick up on it and can make you even more self conscious.

But the question I am going to ask is...  Who is responsible for this questioning in young people's mind?

I personally think it's the media's responsibility. I wrote a blog earlier on last year about a clothing company ditching models and using computer software to model there clothes... really? Should this be allowed to go on for young girls to starve themselves and become a size 0 which is really unhealthy.

I was told that the "perfect healthy size" is a size 12/14 (UK sizing)... Now I personally agree with this, but I know a lot of people who won't agree with this and say that is "fat". Nonsense.

Women and Men (I know men have issues with looking good too I've not forgot about you guys), are constantly seeing glossy magazines with flawless celebrities looking "mighty fine", or a tagline with someone moaning about their weight when there's nothing of them.

I really know in the bottom of my heart, nothing will ever change unless more people stand up and notice what is going on here. Do we have celebrities as  role models or we find someone who has actually made a impact on someones life and think "wow that person is totally inspiring".?

I guess what I'm trying to say is you shouldn't be ashamed of yourself, no matter what size you are ect... No body's perfect after all... Are they?

Over and out

This is not the end, its only the beginning!

Hello there gorgeous!

I was just thinking to myself that I keep promising to keep the blog up and I never do so I thought I'd rattle out a blog and see if I can keep it up every week on two weeks on whatever I can...

I've just finished my HND radio and what can I say? It was a blast, I learned so much and made long lasting friendships who I hope to keep in contact with. (Facebook is a wonderful thing!)... I hope to know get into the world of work which is easier said than done I'll tell you that much. But I want to reiterate somethings I learned at college, which I hope will help you:

1) Never be scared to be yourself!
People can be so judgmental, but don't let anyone put you down. Being different is GOOD!! One of my tutors said that there were not two people alike in our class, and it was a good thing as we could all bounce of each others personalities even though we were so different.

2) Don't let anyone tell you that you "can't do something"
I'm sick to death of this word "can't" it should be banned. If you have the determination to do                            something and you know you can do, then DO IT! Don't sit around talking about, because then people can talk you out of it.

3) Confidence
If you don't have confidence then that's cool, but you need to work on it. Nothing or no one can bring your confidence. Sure they can help you but its all up to you... I never thought in  a millions years I'd be able to go live in front of a radio mic and talk but I tried it (and loved it).

I have been on a whirlwind of a journey and its been great! There's been downs but there's been the most amazing ups and I have memories I will treasure forever. This isn't the end now I've finished college, this is only the beginning...

Over and out,

Anti aging cream saves the day!

In this post I will be talking about a article I have just read and I have the urge to express my opinion!

Firstly I would like to say that I myself am against plastic surgery and  women (and men too) having the urge to look younger and going to extreme lengths to do so. If were we meant to not age we wouldn't and I think the generation we live in now is arrogant to put it polite. We do everything to look older when we're younger and when we look older we want to look younger. We can't win. However we don't all go to extreme lengths.

But now there is a savoir! Yes I said it a SAVOIR ladies and gentlemen... it is A-F33 wrinkle cream. Apparently it is seeming to deliver results that other brands of "anti aging" creams aren't. Really? I can't see this being any diffrent than anything else, I mean how can one cream make you look younger and be THAT great that the urge to have plastic sugery just disappears. I don't buy it, there's got to be a catch. And for it to have a "immediate difference" come on you're not being serious are you?!

For anyone who reads my blogs or knows me you'll know I'm against how the media sculpts the image of "how real women should look" and I take this subject to heart. There is no right way to look and if you look older than other people then that's life. You should be able to embrace growing old not doing anything to prevent it.

In conclusion I would just like to say until I see up close & personal results I will never believe this... Its a waste of time and money.

Please note this is my opinion and thoughts and I don't mean to offend any body :)
Please comment and tell me what you think and if you have any other topics you would like me to discuss I will :)

Is the image of what a perfect body shape going too far!!

A story I heard about over the last few months was a big brand store has been caught using computerized images to model their clothes instead of real life models!! H&M a sweedish fashion chain had to admit to using photo shopped photos of their shop dummies to model their bikini's! Now, I think this is uterlly disgusting to be honest, what kind of examples is this giving to women no matter what the age? This cant be positive surely, as young women have pressure "to look good" already with stars going on diets and magazines and films airbrushing them and putting makeup on them! It's hard for young girls to grow up at school comparing herself to fellow peers (I know because I've done it!) nevermind comparing themselfs to celebraties and now computerized images because they wont belive that it's done with photoshop because they do look real!

I think that REAL women should become REAL model's, none of you're computerized software. We're talking about kids here when you think about it. Kids looking at the pictures in magazines and saying "wow I want to look like that" so they starve their self's and you all wonder why anorexia and all other weight issue illnesses are on the increase. I want to work in the media myself but god help the world of today if this is what it is doing to the "next generation's" idea of "what looks good". In conclusion I hope that the media wakes up and looks at this generation of today and does something about it.

Most important blogs!

I was asked today to look for five important blogs to me. In all honesty I don't read blogs all that much but one blog close to my heart is "The bravest baby blog". Mainly because its keeps upto date with my friends cousin's illness (neruoblastoma). I like to read how she is getting on and like to know if she there is any latest news! Her blog which was on blogspot can no longer be found, but there is a fan page on facebook which has a blog which my friends aunt writes in reguarlly!

Another blog I think is important is called "Is a blog still important?". It talks about how there is facebook and twitter and how no one really writes blogs anymore instead of putting thoughts into a square box! It talks about the writers passion for writing, just like my passion.

Another blog I came across was design by a girl called Sian Louise. I like it because its about her life and her opioions of things in the world today. Just like I aspire my blog to be like to be honest. It really inspired me

Another is biology-blog.com and is about animal science. I like this because I am a great animal lover and it is full of facts about animals and stories about animals

The last blog I came across is "I am single, And You". It inspired me not just because the writer was single and was talking about that but it was a reflecting peice of writing. It talks about when the writer was 18 he was single and now he is 21 and still single. A good piece of reflecting writing I think :)
